CLOWN CLASSIC GOLF TOURNAMENT
APRIL 26 & 27, 2025 at Osage National
The Clown Golf Class is under new leadership
Branches for the Lake, a non-profit organization serving the Lake of the Ozarks area, announces its undertaking of the annual Clown Golf Classic scheduled for April 26 and 27 at Osage National Golf Resort. Previously hosted by the Lake of the Ozarks Re/Max Charitable Foundation, this community event has been held for more than 40 years supporting Lake area children in need.
“After 10 successful years of organizing this beloved charity golf tournament, the RE/MAX Charitable Foundation is transitioning its leadership to Branches for the Lake. This decision comes with a deep sense of gratitude for the countless individuals who have contributed to the tournament’s success over the years,” Susan Ebling, event organizer and local REALTOR, said. “We are confident that Branches for the Lake will ensure the continued success of this important community event, building upon its legacy of supporting children in need. We are excited to see this tournament continue to thrive.”
The golf tournament was founded by Susan’s parents Kym and Dick Ebling, former owners of The Clown, Poop Deck and Topsider – the first waterfront bar/restaurant/entertainment spot at Lake of the Ozarks which started in 1960 by Robert T. McIntosh who originally built the Floating Clown and then sold it to the Eblings in 1974. The Eblings were avid golfers, so in 1984 they decided it might be fun to host a golf tournament with all their friends during the off-season to raise some money for a local charity. “Keeping the money local was important to them”, Susan said. As former educators, the Eblings wanted to choose a local charity that would benefit children in the Lake area and over the years the tournament raised more than $1.1 million for The Lake of the Ozarks Dream Factory. A portion of the funds will continue to support the local chapter to grant wishes to critically and chronically ill children in the Lake area. Money raised will also support other worthy causes including the Branches for the Lake Mentorship Program.
“We are honored to continue this tradition and contribute to the betterment of our community,” Amy Hernandez, Director of Projects for Branches for the Lake, said. “We appreciate the assistance of event organizers for their tireless efforts in raising funds for important community needs. Their dedication has created a strong foundation for this event, and we are grateful for their assistance in making this transition seamless.”
The Clown Golf Tournament weekend begins with an evening pairings party and cocktail reception on Saturday, April 26 at Osage National Golf Course. Cocktails, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and a silent and live auction will be held. The public is invited to attend. Donations for the auctions and sponsorships are currently being accepted.
On Sunday, April 27, the day begins with breakfast and check-in at 8 a.m., and tee off at 10 a.m. Beverages will be provided on the course to all players. A BBQ awards luncheon will be held following the tournament in the afternoon.
