PROGRAMS & INITIATIVES
At Branches for the Lake, our work has always been rooted in one simple idea—strong communities are built through connection.
From the beginning, we have supported initiatives that bring people together, encourage healthy lifestyles, and improve quality of life at the Lake of the Ozarks. While our primary focus today is our Mentorship Program, we continue to support and celebrate programs that strengthen our community in meaningful ways.
Unplug & Explore
Branches for the Lake promotes healthy lifestyles by encouraging residents to “unplug and explore”—reducing screen time and increasing physical activity through outdoor experiences and family engagement.
Through community events, partnerships, and local initiatives, we aim to create opportunities for individuals and families to reconnect—with nature, with each other, and with the community around them.
Join us for our Annual Family Fun Day in 2026, where we invite families to set down their screens and enjoy time together.
Details coming soon.
In collaboration with local businesses, B4TL also hosts community drawings and giveaways that encourage participation in outdoor activities. These efforts help promote movement, wellness, and community involvement across the Lake area.
Trails Initiative & Magic Dragon Trails
One of Branches for the Lake’s earliest efforts was supporting the development of the Trails Initiative, including the Magic Dragon Trails, recognizing the importance of building both physical connectivity and community connection.
B4TL played a key role in helping fund and support the master planning of trail systems in the Osage Beach area, laying the groundwork for what continues to grow today.
We are proud to share that the Magic Dragon Trails project now has its own leadership and board and is continuing to make great progress in expanding trail systems throughout the Lake area.
We encourage you to explore one of the completed projects—the Bike Skills Park & Trail located next to the Osage Beach YMCA, which is free and open to the public.
B4TL has also partnered with Magic Dragon Trails to host bike camps, helping teach children how to ride safely and build confidence through outdoor activity. Follow Magic Dragon Trails on Facebook to learn about new and upcoming camps.
Community Partnerships & Impact
In 2024, Branches for the Lake was awarded a team from the National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) grant, completing over 14 miles of trail improvements at Lake of the Ozarks State Park through a collaborative partnership.
This work reflects our continued commitment to supporting projects that enhance recreation, accessibility, and community well-being.
Continuing the Vision
These initiatives represent the foundation of our work—bringing people together, identifying opportunities, and helping move meaningful projects forward.
Today, while many of these efforts continue to grow through their own leadership and partnerships, Branches for the Lake has evolved to focus more intentionally on our Mentorship Program, where we are working directly with individuals to create lasting impact.
“Have an idea for a community initiative? We’d love to hear from you.”
