MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

The Branches for the Lake Mentorship Program is being developed to provide academic support to students in the Lake area.

In late 2024, Branches for the Lake submitted a proposal for an operating grant to fund an academic mentorship program at the Camdenton High School and Horizons alternative school.

If approved in May 2025, the program will hire 20 part-time mentors to provide one-on-one or small-group academic mentorship at the Camdenton High School and Horizons alternative school. Students with at least one failing grade, or at-risk of failing in grades 9-12 will receive academic support from these mentors.

It will be managed by Branches for the Lake with support from the Camdenton School District staff and AmeriCorps funding.

Future plans include expanding the program to include additional mentoring services, workforce development, and scholarships for local students.

While the program at the High School will utilize AmeriCorps funding, and sit under the umbrella of our Branches for the Lake Mentorship Program, the need for tutoring services outside of the Camdenton High School exists in the Lake of the Ozarks community.

B4TL is also working to provide academic support to students in the Lake area, including those in a homeschooled environment. The goal is to ensure access to quality tutoring services to anyone in need. While those enrolled will pay a fee for their services, B4TL would like to raise money in order to provide scholarships to local students in need of intervention.

These mentors will be recruited within the community, helping to provide additional job opportunities in the area.
